I have noticed a consistent theme amongst all religions from the ancient to those created in the last few years.
It goes like this: Religions tell one how to be good, whilst teaching one to feel bad.
Good is simple, one does as the religion dictates. Bad is a little more complicated because bad is usually defined by the religion itself, unlike truth by the way which is absolute and constant. The basics are simple though. One is expected to follow the rules and behave how a perfect god behaves, to live a life that embraces that perfection. Well, It isn’t going to happen, everyone falls far short of their chosen religions idea of perfection. We are human, not gods. Guilt is a powerful motive. Even imagined guilt.
